ANÁLISE REVISIONAL DE ESTUDOS DO CULTIVO DA MAMONA NA REGIÃO DOS INHAMUNS, NO ESTADO DO CEARÁ. AgEcon
Moreira, Jose Cesar Pontes; Mera, Ruben Dario Mayorga; Mayorga, Maria Irles De Oliveira.

ANALYSIS OF THE U.S.-EUROPEAN COMMUNITY OILSEEDS AGREEMENT AgEcon
Ames, Glenn C.W.; Gunter, Lewell F.; Davis, Claudia D..
In 1986, the American Soybean Association filed a Section 301 petition under the Trade Act of 1974, alleging that European Community oilseed subsidies nullified and impaired benefits of previous trade concessions, specifically the tariff binding of 1962. Two bilateral trade agreements were negotiated to remedy the dispute, the Blair House Agreement and the Memorandum of Understanding on Oilseeds. The impacts of these trade agreements were simulated using a three region trade model. Results indicated that neither supply constraints nor penalties for overproduction will contribute to a recovery of U.S. soybean exports to the EC. (Missing 6 tables)

ANALYSIS OF THE WORLD OIL CROPS MARKET AgEcon
Mattson, Jeremy W.; Sun, Changyou; Koo, Won W..
The world of oilseeds, meals, and oils has been evolving. New issues have emerged for researchers and policymakers. The United States is still the largest player, mainly due to its dominant position in soybeans and soybean meals. Nevertheless, the position of the United States has been challenged by several countries. The growth by Brazil and Argentina in the production of soybeans and soybean meal has especially eroded the market share of the United States in recent years. Malaysia and Indonesia have been aggressively marketing their palm oil, intensifying the competition for U.S. soybean oil exports. Other issues include changing trade policies and demand in major importing countries, trade liberalization, and genetically modified crops.

As principais oleaginosas da agricultura familiar. Infoteca-e

HARMONIZATION AND CONVERGENCE OF CANADIAN AND U.S. GRAIN AND OILSEEDS POLICIES: 1985-1996 AgEcon
Gray, Richard S.; Smith, Vincent H..
The United States and Canada share the longest common border and largest bilateral trading relationship in the world. Recent trading agreements--CUSTA, NAFTA and WTO--have enhanced trade by encouraging elimination of many remaining trade barriers. However, one cause for concern about the effectiveness of these trade agreements has been the frequency of Canadian-U.S. trade disputes over bilateral wheat and barley trade arrangements and trade flows. To some extent, these disputes have arisen because of differences in and lack of harmonization between the domestic and trade policies implemented by the two countries, although other political factors have also clearly been important causes of these disagreements. Since 1986, many dimensions of the agricultural...

Impacts of Soybean Imports on Indian Processors, Farmers, and Consumers AgEcon
Persaud, Suresh Chand; Dohlman, Erik.
India is one of the world’s largest importers of vegetable oils in part because of low domestic oilseed production, and tariff and nontariff barriers preventing oilseed imports. Simulation results indicate that India could lower its barriers to soybean imports without adversely affecting farmers, since imports are economically attractive to crushers even when subject to modest tariffs which sustain pre-liberalization farm and wholesale prices. Soybean processors in India achieve higher rates of capacity utilization and lower unit costs using imported oilseeds. Moreover, it is possible to partially redistribute to consumers the sizable gains processors experience by lowering the soybean oil tariff.

Instability, Supply Response and Insurance in Oilseeds Production in India AgEcon
Pandey, L.M.; Kumar, Sant; Mruthyunjaya.
Yield and price instability and covariate risks have been examined for major oilseeds, viz. groundnut, rapeseed/mustard, sunflower and soybean, in selected states of India using time series data. Risk behaviour and effects of price and price risk on production have been analyzed in a rational expectations framework. The study has also estimated social gains from yield and revenue insurance in oilseeds. While instabilities in yield, prices and gross return have shown mixed responses, covariate risks have increased. The results of econometric analysis have indicated that the expected prices and price risk are important determinants of oilseeds production. Price elasticities of oilseed production have been found to vary between 0.26 and 0.88 and price risk...

Intake, digestibility, performance and carcass characteristics of ewes fed crambe replacing soybean meal in the diet Animal Sciences
Goes, Rafael Henrique de Tonissi e Buschinelli de; Yoshihara Carneiro, Mayara Mitiko; Osmari, Milene Puntel; Souza, Kennyson Alves de; Oliveira, Raquel Tenório de; Souza, Charles Jhonnatan dos Santos.
The use of alternative sources of protein for ruminant can alter productivity and reduce costs in animal production. The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance, apparent digestibility and quantitative characteristics of carcass components of ewes fed increasing levels (0, 50, 100 and 150 g kg-1 dry matter) of crambe crushed in the diets. Twenty-four culling ewes were distributed in a completely randomized design. All animals were kept in a shed, with individual stalls equipped with feeder, drinker and concrete floor covered with rice hulls. The animals received corn silage as roughage and diets were isoenergetic with 700 g kg-1 of TDN. Animals were slaughtered when reached a body condition score of 3.5 points. The dry matter intake (948.53 g...
